Penn State's Defense Shines in Fiesta Bowl Win
GLENDALE, USAWed Jan 01 2025
Penn State's defense was the star of the show in their Fiesta Bowl win over Boise State. They kept Ashton Jeanty, the Heisman Trophy runner-up, from running wild, limiting him to just 104 yards on 30 carries. Jeanty, who usually averages around 7 yards per carry, was held to a season-low 3. 5 yards per carry. Penn State's defensive line and linebackers were relentless, clogging every hole and making every tackle count.
On offense, quarterback Drew Allar had a steady game, throwing three touchdown passes. Running backs Kaytron Allen and Nick Singleton also impressed, combining for 216 yards on the ground. Singleton had a highlight-reel 58-yard touchdown run that sealed the deal for the Nittany Lions.
Boise State didn't make it easy, though. They fought back from an early 14-0 deficit to make it a 17-14 game in the third quarter. But Penn State's defense and offense both stepped up when it mattered most. The Nittany Lions now advance to the College Football Playoff semifinals.
