Picasso, Sotheby's, and a Split Art Mood

Current expectations in the art world look cautious and divided. People currently seem to think Picasso is the favored name for total global fine art auction turnover. Warhol and Basquiat are not favored for that same outcome. Sotheby's is also leaning ahead of Christie's for the higher sales total. That does not mean anyone has won anything; it only shows where current expectations appear to be leaning.

The Turner Prize picture is not positive for the three named artists. People currently seem to think Simeon Barclay, Kira Freije, and Marguerite Humeau are unlikely to win. Banksy's expected Instagram activity is leaning toward no. The broad question about global art-market sales reaching a marked level is also leaning toward no.

For Andy Warhol's Flowers, the mood is split. Some views lean toward no, while others lean toward yes, so there is no clear majority. Roy Lichtenstein's Green Head is also divided, but its lean is toward yes. The useful question is whether these splits show real disagreement or simply uncertainty.
