Pixel Watch 4: Bigger Battery, Faster Charging, Same Old Chip?
Tue Jul 15 2025
Google's upcoming Pixel Watch 4 is making waves with some notable upgrades, but not everything is new. The tech giant is reportedly boosting the battery size and charging speeds, but the chip remains the same as its predecessor.
The Pixel Watch 4 is set to hit the market soon, and leaks have been trickling in. Earlier, we saw some renders that showed a similar design to the Pixel Watch 3, but with a different charging setup and extra cutouts on the frame. More recently, leaks revealed new case and band colors.
Now, a new report sheds light on what's changing under the hood. According to a source inside Google, the Pixel Watch 4 will still use the Snapdragon W5 chip, the same one found in the previous two models. However, the battery is getting a significant upgrade.
Both the 41mm and 45mm versions of the Pixel Watch 4 will see a battery boost. The 41mm model will go from 307 mAh to 327 mAh, a roughly 7% increase. The 45mm model will jump from 420 mAh to 459 mAh, a roughly 9% increase. This is a welcome change, especially for the smaller model, which has had a nearly identical battery since the first generation.
The report also mentions that charging speeds are faster, but exact figures are not yet available. The Pixel Watch 4 is expected to launch alongside the Pixel 10 series next month, but it's still unclear how Google plans to differentiate this year's model from its predecessors.
While the battery upgrades are a step in the right direction, the lack of a new chip raises questions. Will these changes be enough to make the Pixel Watch 4 stand out in a crowded market? Only time will tell.
