Pixel Weather Update: New Features, New Issues

Wed Mar 12 2025
Google's Pixel Weather app just got a fresh update, but it's not all smooth sailing. The latest version, 1. 0. 20250127, introduces a new "Save" button. This button is supposed to save your current location. But, there's a catch. When you tap it, your current location ends up being duplicated in the list. This could be handy if you're traveling and want to keep an eye on the weather back home. But for most people, it's just going to create a mess. You'll see two entries for the same place, which is annoying. Especially when you're just trying to check the weather for the day. The update also brings a small improvement to the 10-day forecast. Now, each day is labeled with both the day of the week and the date. This makes it easier to understand the forecast at a glance. It's a small change, but it's useful. No more confusion about which Monday is which. It's possible that Google is testing out a new feature. One that lets you check the weather for other cities without adding them to your saved locations. But for now, you still have to add a city to your list to see its weather. And the new "Save" button doesn't show up when you do this. Google has been tweaking the Pixel Weather app a lot lately. In January, a bug made some options disappear, but it was fixed quickly. The latest update makes it easier to change the units of measurement. Before, this was tied to your phone's settings. Now, you can change it directly in the app. This is a big plus for people who prefer metric or imperial units. The Pixel Weather app has come a long way since it was first released with the Pixel 9 series. It's more advanced than the old weather app. But there are still areas where it falls short. For example, you can't quickly check the weather for a city without saving it. This is a feature that many users would find useful. The app has a precipitation map and customizable widgets. These are great features. But the recent update shows that there's still room for improvement. The new "Save" button is a step in the right direction. But the duplication issue needs to be fixed. And the ability to check the weather for other cities without saving them would be a welcome addition.
