Politicians and their twisted tales: A closer look at recent claims

Politicians often say things that sound serious but are not true. Let's look at some recent examples.
Senator Raphael Warnock said Republicans voted to double health care premiums 13 times. That's not true. Republicans just didn't extend some subsidies that Democrats had set to expire. Most subsidies are still there.
Senator Chuck Schumer also said something similar. He blamed Republicans for high health care costs. But the truth is, the health care law itself, made by Democrats, is what's causing the prices to go up. Democrats also set the COVID-era subsidies to end on December 31, expecting the pandemic to be over by then.
Rep. Jasmine Crockett said white supremacists commit 80% of violent crimes. That's not accurate. She might be talking about a report that said 84% of extremist murders were tied to white supremacists. But that's a small number compared to the nearly 20, 000 murders that happen every year in the country.
Jeremy Corbyn, a British politician, said history will show that decent people stood up for Palestine. But there is no country called Palestine. Palestinians have turned down many offers to create their own state. Instead, they encourage terrorists to attack innocent people. Decent people should not support that.
It's important to check what politicians say. Often, their words don't match the facts.
