Politicians Debate Funding for Cities Protecting Illegal Immigrants

Representative Marjorie Taylor Greene is making waves by calling on leaders of "sanctuary cities" to explain why they deserve federal funding. These cities typically don't help the federal government enforce tough immigration laws. Greene, now heading the Department of Government Efficiency (DOGE) under Elon Musk and Vivek Ramaswamy, wants these leaders to justify their funding requests. If these cities use their resources to protect illegal immigrants, Greene warns that they might lose their federal funds. California Governor Gavin Newsom has a different take. He's considering offering state tax rebates for electric vehicle purchases if the incoming Trump administration removes the federal tax credit. Newsom believes this would keep zero-emission vehicles affordable and supportive of green jobs. Meanwhile, Republican Senator Rand Paul from Kentucky is against using the U. S. military for mass deportations, even if he supports expelling millions of immigrants. He thinks law enforcement would be better suited for this task and using the military could create a bad image.
