You might have heard that the Snapdragon 8 Elite is super fast, especially in multi-core tests. But did you know that in single-core performance, it's not the clear winner? The A18 Pro takes the lead here. In a Geekbench 6 test, the A18 Pro scored 3, 413 points with a power draw of 6. 6W, while the Snapdragon 8 Elite scored 3, 233 points with a power draw of 6. 9W. That's a tiny difference, but it's still a win for the A18 Pro.
Why does this matter? Well, power efficiency is a big deal, especially for phones. The less power a chip uses, the longer your phone's battery lasts. So, even though the Snapdragon 8 Elite is super powerful, the A18 Pro is a bit more efficient.
It's also interesting to note that both chips are made using TSMC's 3nm 'N3E' node. This means they have similar power consumption, but the A18 Pro just edges ahead. We need to wait and see how things play out when these chips are used in actual phones.
The Snapdragon 8 Elite was tested at its maximum clock speed of 4. 32GHz, which uses more power. If it runs at a lower speed, it might become more power-efficient. We don't have those results yet, but stay tuned!
