President Trump’s Immigration Show on TV

Every president deals with deportations, but President Donald Trump is taking it to a new level. He's making sure people around the world can see his immigration policy in action, like a reality TV show. His administration has been sharing lots of photos and videos on social media, showing deportation flights and agents working on the border. Recently, a video from Homeland Security Secretary Kristi Noem got lots of attention. She was live from New York City, where she was overseeing an enforcement operation. Within minutes, her videos were the top story on Fox News, a network that supports President Trump. Experts say President Trump wants people to see ICE agents detaining migrants. He's doing this to discourage more people from coming to the US and to show he's keeping his election promises. Last week, Fox News got exclusive access to an ICE patrol in Boston. They showed an agent arresting a man who didn't want to go back to Haiti. Over the weekend, Dr. Phil McGraw, a TV star who supports President Trump, joined an ICE raid in Chicago. He even livestreamed it. Dr. Phil said he was there to show people the truth about immigration sweeps. He thinks people read false things about what’s happening. The Trump administration arranges these “TV moments” to show voters that they’re taking action. This is different from past administrations that mostly told people about their efforts. Now, seeing is believing, and it matters more than ever. During President Joe Biden's time in office, right-wing media talked a lot about immigration threats. Now that President Trump is back, they’re focusing on criminals being deported first. But some studies show immigrants are less likely to commit crimes than US-born people. People have mixed feelings about this. Some think it’s wrong to take pleasure in watching others suffer. Others feel relieved and excited when they see criminals being deported. When asked about this, Tom Homan, the border czar, said it's important to show that being in the US illegally has consequences.
