David McCloskey, the former CIA analyst who turned his experience into bestselling spy novels, has signed an exclusive multi‑year first‑look agreement with Prologue Entertainment. The deal gives the independent studio rights to adapt his current and future books into film and television, with McCloskey stepping in as executive producer on every project. Prologue, known for the 2025 Netflix thrillers A House of Dynamite and Zero Day, will collaborate closely with McCloskey to bring his detailed espionage stories to the screen. He will also offer his expertise on other titles produced by the company. The partnership follows the success of McCloskey’s latest novel, The Persian, which reached number three on the Sunday Times hardback bestseller list. Critics praise his blend of real CIA tactics with vivid characters, and Prologue’s founders see him as a perfect fit for their commitment to authentic geopolitical drama.
McCloskey, who first introduced readers to the CIA operative Artemis Procter in 2021 with Damascus Station, continues to follow Procter's adventures through the Middle East and Russia. His upcoming book London Station will add another chapter to this series, scheduled for release in September 2026. Beyond fiction, McCloskey’s background includes briefing senior government officials and serving on congressional panels during his CIA tenure. After leaving the agency, he consulted for national security clients at McKinsey & Company and now hosts a podcast that explores classified topics. Prologue was founded in 2024 by industry veterans Lloyd Braun, Sarah Bremner and Noah Oppenheim. The studio’s recent work on high‑profile dramas shows its focus on stories rooted in real events, and the new deal with McCloskey aligns with that vision.
