Protesters March Against ICE After Deadly Shootings

People across the U. S. are speaking out against ICE after recent shootings. In Minneapolis, a big protest happened on Saturday. It was one of many planned that day. The protest was about two things. First, a woman named Renee Good was shot and killed by an ICE officer. Second, two people were shot in Portland, Oregon. The city was already tense after Good's killing. Meghan Moore, a mom from Minneapolis, said everyone is scared. She thinks ICE is making people feel unsafe. She's not alone. Many others feel the same way. Some protests have been peaceful. But others have turned violent. On Friday night, a protest outside a hotel got out of hand. People threw ice, snow, and rocks at officers. One officer got hurt. Police arrested 29 people.Minneapolis Mayor Jacob Frey wants people to stay peaceful. He said those who cause trouble will be arrested. He thinks some people are trying to stir up chaos. Governor Tim Walz also asked for peace. He said Trump wants to see chaos. Walz wants people to fight peacefully. He wants them to use their voices, not violence. Protesters are mad about ICE's actions. Connor Maloney said he's seen ICE officers harass people. He thinks it's wrong. He and others protested in the cold. They carried signs saying things like "De-ICE Minnesota! " They marched down a street full of different cultures. Steven Eubanks from North Carolina also protested. He said the killing in Minneapolis was horrifying. He wants to stand up against it. ICE has been busy in Minneapolis. They've been arresting people all over the city. Officers have been seen with guns. They've warned people to stay away. Cars have been left behind. Some even had dogs inside. Congresswomen tried to visit an ICE facility. But they were kicked out after 10 minutes. They think ICE is hiding something.
