Protesters Take to Boston's Streets for Gaza War Anniversary
Boston, USAMon Oct 07 2024
Thousands of people gathered in Boston to protest the ongoing war in Gaza, marking the first anniversary of a Hamas attack on Israel. The protesters temporarily blocked traffic on Storrow Drive, holding signs and chanting slogans. They called for an end to the war and for the United States to stop supporting Israel.
The protest began at the Parkman Bandstand on the Boston Common and quickly grew larger. People walked through traffic on Storrow Drive, making it difficult for cars to pass. The Massachusetts State Police monitored the situation and diverted traffic to ensure safety.
The protesters were unhappy with the ongoing violence and expansion of the war into other regions. They believe that the war has gone on for too long and that innocent people are being harmed. Some protesters, like the Jewish Voice for Peace Boston Chapter, see Zionism as a threat to human rights.
Rabbi Marc Baker, the President and CEO of Combined Jewish Philanthropies, disagrees with the protests. He thinks this is a time to remember those who were killed and to support each other, not to protest.
