On Sunday, tension in southern Lebanon boiled over into violence. At least three people lost their lives and over 40 others were hurt when Israeli forces opened fire on protesters. These demonstrators, some waving Hezbollah flags, were trying to enter border villages. Their goal? To protest Israel's failure to withdraw troops by a 60-day deadline set by a ceasefire agreement.

No immediate comment came from the Israeli military about the protests. An Israeli army spokesman had warned residents not to try returning to their villages earlier that day.
