At Ronald Reagan National Airport, something unusual happened. Two high-ranking officials, Robert F. Kennedy Jr. and Sean Duffy, decided to have a pull-up contest. This wasn't just for fun. They wanted to show that airports can be places where people can stay active and healthy.
Before the contest, they talked about a big plan. They have $1 billion to make airports better for families. This money will be used to create more play areas for kids and better spots for mothers to breastfeed. They also want to add workout areas, so people can exercise while they wait for their flights.
Sean Duffy, who is 54, did 10 pull-ups. Robert F. Kennedy Jr. , who is 71, did 20. A fitness expert, Dr. Paul Saladino, won with 21 pull-ups. Even Duffy's daughter joined in and did 13 pull-ups, beating her dad.
They stood in front of a healthy food vending machine. This machine sells salads and other nutritious foods. They want airports to have more options like this. Right now, airports are full of junk food. Kennedy said that eating at airports can make you feel worse than before you ate.
They also talked about the need for better breastfeeding facilities. Isabel Brown, an influencer, shared her struggles. She said that airports often lack clean, well-marked, and maintained nursing rooms. This makes it hard for mothers to breastfeed comfortably.
Duffy admitted that they don't have a plan to lower food prices at airports. He said that it's due to market demand and supply. But he is focused on providing healthier food options.
