Pigs can get really sick from a virus called PEV-G. It causes problems like diarrhea, brain swelling, trouble breathing, and even issues with reproduction. Normally, finding this virus takes a lot of time and special tools. But now, there are new ways to detect it quickly and easily.
Two new methods, called RPA and PSR, can find the virus in just minutes. These methods don't need fancy equipment. They work by copying tiny pieces of the virus's DNA really fast. Scientists made special tools called primers to find the virus in pigs from Haryana. They tested different temperatures, times, and amounts of chemicals to make these methods work best.
The RPA method is super fast. It can find the virus in just 20 minutes and is very sensitive. The PSR method takes a bit longer, about 2. 5 hours, but it's still pretty good. Both methods are really good at telling the difference between PEV-G and other pig viruses. They also work well with a special dye called Picogreen, which makes it easy to see the results.
Scientists tested these new methods on 100 samples and found they work just as well as the old ones. This is great news because it means farmers and vets can now detect the virus quickly and easily, even out in the field. This can help them take action faster and stop the virus from spreading. It's a big step forward for keeping pigs healthy and saving money for the swine industry.
