Rain is finally coming to save New England from the drought!

New England has been bone dry for months. The last time Boston saw more than an inch of rain was way back on June 26. The region has been dealing with a bad drought and lots of wildfires. But guess what? A storm is on its way to bring some much-needed rain. This storm will hit New England early on Thursday. It's going to bring steady rain and maybe even some snow to the mountain areas. This rain could break a 110-year record for the driest fall in Boston. The ocean is getting cooler, which will change our weather pattern. We'll see more rain as the jet stream moves around. This storm will involve two low-pressure systems. One will be near the surface and the other will be higher up in the atmosphere.The rain will start before sunrise on Thursday and spread throughout the day. Boston might not see any rain until the afternoon. The system will then move over the Atlantic and bring more wet weather on Friday and Saturday. This storm could bring about 1 to 2 inches of rain to some parts of New England. Boston might get about an inch, which will help with the fire conditions. It might even snow a little in the hill towns and mountains of Western and Northern New England. This rain won't fix the drought completely, but it will definitely help with the reservoirs and groundwater levels.
