The Rams’ defense was on fire during their game against the Vikings. Sam Darnold, the Vikings’ quarterback, couldn’t find an open receiver and was quickly brought down by Akhello Witherspoon. The fumble was picked up by rookie Jared Verse, who ran untouched for a 57-yard touchdown. The Rams looked strong from the start, scoring a touchdown on their first drive. They ended the first quarter with a 10-0 lead. Matthew Stafford, the Rams’ quarterback, threw two touchdowns, one of which was a game-changer with just seconds left in the first half, making the score 24-3.
The Vikings had a tough time. Sam Darnold was sacked a record-tying nine times and lost 82 yards. He completed 25 of 40 passes, but the Vikings only managed 269 total yards. Despite a close call with a fumble early in the second quarter that was overturned, the Vikings couldn’t mount a comeback. The game was moved to Arizona due to wildfires in Los Angeles. The Rams’ next game is against the Philadelphia Eagles on the East Coast.
