Ravens Rule, Lock up Division with Thrashing of Browns
Baltimore, USASun Jan 05 2025
The Baltimore Ravens finished the NFL regular season with a bang, securing the AFC North title after a decisive 35-10 victory over the Cleveland Browns. Amidst this impressive win, it was defensive lineman Michael Pierce who stole the show. Weighing in at a massive 355 pounds, Pierce surprised everyone by joining the coverage and intercepting Browns quarterback Bailey Zappe. His teammates and fans erupted in joy, and coach John Harbaugh playfully declared it "the most amazing play in NFL history. "
But the night truly belonged to Lamar Jackson and Derrick Henry, the power duo behind Baltimore's potent offense. Jackson, a two-time MVP, continued to make history, throwing for 217 yards and two touchdowns, while also rushing for 63 yards. He became the first quarterback ever to reach 4, 000 passing yards with over 40 TD passes and fewer than five interceptions. Harbaugh praised Jackson, saying, "He's a competitor, a fighter, one of a kind. "
Derrick Henry, known as "King Henry, " also achieved a remarkable milestone. He rushed for 138 yards and two touchdowns, finishing the season with 1, 870 yards and 15 touchdowns. This makes him the first player in NFL history to have three seasons with at least 1, 500 rushing yards and 15 touchdowns.
Despite their poor season, the Browns have something to look forward to. Their loss secured them a top-3 pick in the 2025 NFL Draft. The Ravens, on the other hand, await their playoff opponent, which could be either Jim Harbaugh's Chargers or the Pittsburgh Steelers.
