Religious Americans React to Trump and Pope Leo

Some conservative Catholics, like Kristine Rooff, defend Trump’s policies but dismiss the pope’s progressive stances. Others, like Cindy Luna, a Hispanic Catholic Republican, see the pope as a moral voice standing up against controversial decisions. She admires his courage in challenging politicians, even when it conflicts with party lines. The survey also highlighted backlash against Trump’s fiery rhetoric, like a post suggesting a "civilization will die" during Iran negotiations. Most Americans—76%—found it alarming, showing how faith and politics often clash in unsettling ways.
