Rep. Greene Sticks to Weather Control Claim After Hurricane Devastation
USAMon Oct 07 2024
After a recent hurricane devastated parts of the Southeastern United States, Representative Marjorie Taylor Greene from Georgia has been causing quite a stir online. She's been saying that some mysterious "they" can control the weather, and she's not backing down on this claim despite all the criticism she's getting. On Saturday night, she posted again on X (formerly Twitter), saying that anyone who denies this or makes fun of it is lying to us. This comes just a few days after Hurricane Helene caused so much damage and loss of life. There’s also another storm, Tropical Storm Milton, brewing in the Gulf of Mexico, expected to hit Florida midweek.
This isn't the first time Greene has made this claim. A few days earlier, she had posted something similar, which got a lot of attention and was even mocked online. People like Michael Steele, who used to be the chairman of the Republican National Committee, called her claims "a special kind of stupid. " Others were even harsher in their responses.
To support her claim, Greene shared a video clip from 2016 where John Brennan, the CIA Director under President Obama, was talking about climate engineering. In the clip, Brennan discusses an idea to cool down the Earth by reflecting the sun's rays with particles in the atmosphere. But he also talks about how this wouldn’t solve all environmental problems and could cause problems between different regions if it changed the climate.
Greene hasn’t shown any evidence that such technology exists or is being used to control big storms like hurricanes. She has a history of believing in conspiracy theories, which led to her losing some of her committee assignments back in 2021.
