Revamping Agriculture: Blockchain's Role in Bangladesh
BANGLADESHSun Dec 29 2024
In Bangladesh, agriculture is the backbone of the economy, but the agri-food supply chain is riddled with inefficiencies due to many middlemen. This complicates things, lowering farmer profits and hurting transparency. This study aims to fix this using blockchain technology. The idea is to make everything transparent, efficient, and fairer for farmers. Researchers set up a smart contract on the Ethereum Blockchain to track and record all transactions. They also created a web app to make it easy for users to interact with this contract. Testing showed the system can handle a lot of transactions without slowing down. By cutting out middlemen, farmers keep more of their profits. Blockchain's success in the agri-food supply chain could pave the way for similar improvements in other sectors, boosting the country's agricultural practices and economic growth.
