Revising Cancer Care: Stakeholders' Perspectives on Genomic Profiling's Challenges

Cancer treatment is no longer one-size-fits-all. Genomic profiling, especially comprehensive genomic profiling (CGP), can offer tailored treatments. However, this advanced approach faces several hurdles. Designing studies to test these methods is tough and time-consuming, making the benefits uncertain. The cost and clinical advantages are key factors in deciding whether to use these tests. But, there are other factors too.A recent study found five more factors influencing the choice between simple tests and CGP. These include how easy it is to do the test, how patients and doctors interact, the broader impact of test results, how labs are organized, and the further research opportunities it opens. This study aims to see how important these extra factors are to different people involved in cancer care.
