A learning app that combines the fun of TikTok and the structured learning of Duolingo. That’s what Revyze is doing! This French startup, started by Guillaume Perrot and Florent Sciberras, has quickly become a hit with students. They've reached over a million users in just two years, with a third of French 9th graders using it before their big exams. Their secret? Making learning fun and engaging with short videos and quizzes. Revyze hit the #1 spot on Apple’s App Store for free downloads in June. They've even got around 2,000 content creators sharing 40,000 videos and quizzes that have racked up 150 million views! This success helped them raise €5. 5 million in a seed round led by Speedinvest and Moonfire. But things weren’t all smooth sailing when they tried to launch in the U. S. The Revyze team found that students used the app mainly before exams, not throughout the year. So, they went back to the drawing board. They refined the app to offer more consistent engagement. Now, users can casually browse or focus deeply, thanks to a new feature called “capsules. ” Capsules are designed around specific topics. They include videos, quizzes, and summary sheets – like a lesson on Duolingo. You start with a goal, work through the content, and feel a sense of achievement when you finish. Plus, there are gamification features to keep users coming back every day. Top creators can now monetize their content, earning coins when users spend them on their capsules. Even though the app is free, Revyze plans to add paid features later. For now, they’re focusing on getting the product right and growing their user and creator communities. The community is diverse, mixing students and teachers who all want to help students learn in new ways.
