Rock-Filled Tiles: A New Twist in Durability

Scientists have been exploring a new type of tile made from a composite material. This tile is made by mixing crushed granite from the Măcin Mountains with a special type of plastic called polyesteric thermorigid resin. The researchers wanted to find out how much granite is needed to make the tiles strong enough for heavy use. Granite is a type of rock that's known for its strength and durability. It's made mostly of silica, which gives it a hard, glassy texture. The granite used in this study had a greenish shade, which was crushed and sorted into different sizes. The resin used in this study is easy to get and mixes quickly without creating unwanted products. It also stands up well against chemicals like acids and alcohols. The researchers made samples of this composite material using steel molds. After letting them set, they tested how much pressure the tiles could handle.
