Ronald D. Moore Joins Amazon's 'God of War' Series as New Showrunner

Ronald D. Moore, a well-known creator and showrunner, is back at Sony Pictures TV Studios. He will be the new writer, executive producer, and showrunner for the Amazon MGM Studios' Prime Video series "God of War. " This series is based on the popular PlayStation video game that revolves around ancient mythology. Moore has taken over this high-profile project after the original creative team, including Rafe Judkins, Hawk Ostby, and Mark Fergus, left.
Moore's return to Sony TV comes with a new multi-year deal, signed in June. Previously, he had left Sony in 2020 after a successful run that included creating "Outlander" for Starz and "For All Mankind" for Apple TV+. Both these shows are still running and have spawned spinoffs. Moore remains an executive producer on the main shows and their spinoffs.
During his earlier stint at Sony TV, Moore also executive produced "Philip K. Dick’s Electric Dreams" for Prime Video. He is known for his work on genre series like "Battlestar Galactica" for Syfy.
The "God of War" video game franchise, launched in 2005 on PlayStation 2, has expanded to seven games across four PlayStation consoles. The story follows ex-Spartan warrior Kratos, who seeks revenge on Ares, the Greek God of War, for influencing him to kill his loved ones. After becoming the God of War himself, Kratos looks for ways to change his destiny.
The TV series adaptation will have key executives from Santa Monica Studio and PlayStation Productions, including Cory Barlog, Asad Qizilbash, Carter Swan, Hermen Hulst, and Roy Lee. Jeff Ketcham from Santa Monica Studio is also part of the team as a co-executive producer. Moore is represented by CAA and Hansen, Jacobson, Teller.
