Russia's Aggressive Moves: Poland and Allies on High Alert

Russia's recent aggressive actions have put Poland and its allies on high alert. Early on a Saturday morning, Polish and allied fighter jets were quickly sent up after Russia launched a large-scale air attack on Ukraine, with some strikes happening near the Polish border. This happened just hours after NATO intercepted three Russian fighter jets that entered Estonia's airspace without permission. Estonia called this a "brazen" move, as the jets had their tracking systems off and no flight plans, which could have put other aircraft in danger. Russia, however, denied entering Estonian airspace, claiming their flight followed international rules. Meanwhile, Poland's military reported that their fighter jets and air defense systems were at maximum readiness due to Russia's long-range aviation activity. The attack on Ukraine involved 579 drones and various missiles. Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelensky reported that three people were killed and dozens injured. He stated that these attacks are not just military actions but a deliberate strategy to terrorize civilians and destroy infrastructure. Overall, eight people were killed, and at least 32 were injured in Russian attacks over the last 24 hours. These incidents come at a time when peace talks are at a standstill, and Ukraine's allies are working to secure long-term security guarantees for Kyiv. Zelensky is set to meet with US President Donald Trump at the UN General Assembly to discuss these guarantees. However, Trump's efforts to organize a joint summit with Zelensky and Russian President Vladimir Putin have so far been unsuccessful. These recent events highlight the ongoing tension and the need for a strong international response to Russia's aggressive behavior.
