Safe Return Home: No Air or Water Hazards Reported
Orange County, CA, USATue May 26 2026
Orange County officials have confirmed that residents can return to their homes without worry. Health Officer Dr. CK stated there are no harmful fumes or vapors in the air, and that the evacuation area remains free of contamination. At a press briefing, he reassured people that it is safe to go home.
The Environmental Protection Agency monitored the zone with 20 real‑time air sensors. Chris Myers reported that none of these devices recorded dangerous levels, and the monitoring will continue to ensure safety. Officials also said that no airborne particles have settled on outdoor furniture or other items, so cleaning is unnecessary.
Water quality has also been checked. The Orange County Fire Authority keeps testing runoff that drains from the sprayed tank into storm sewers. Chief Craig Covey explained that barriers are in place to catch any debris, but so far they have not captured anything because the water stays clean.
About 16, 000 residents remain in a reduced evacuation zone while authorities keep an eye on both air and water. Residents can feel confident that the environment is safe for their return.
