Bridgeway Community Health is set to launch a 34‑bed medical detox and recovery facility in May at its Front Street campus in downtown Salem. The center will combine medically supervised withdrawal, primary medical care, and recovery services in a space that is nearly four times larger than its former location on Harold Drive. The new building, an 18, 000‑square‑foot former office complex known as McNary Square, was bought for $1. 75 million in 2021 and later converted into an outpatient behavioral health clinic that opened in 2022. Now, the upgraded location will house both the detox unit and a primary care clinic just north of 750 Front St. NE.
By bringing all services under one roof, Bridgeway aims to smooth transitions between levels of care and improve overall outcomes for people with substance use disorders. The expanded facility will add ten medically managed withdrawal beds and include sobering stations designed to keep people safe while reducing emergency room visits. According to the Oregon Alcohol and Drug Policy Commission, more than 74 % of Oregonians with a substance use disorder are not in treatment. Bridgeway’s new center is intended to address this critical gap and extend access across the Mid‑Willamette Valley. Community leaders see the project as a shared effort to tackle addiction challenges, emphasizing that the larger space will create a more comfortable and supportive environment for recovery.
