Samsung's New Flip Phones: More Choices, More Questions

USAWed Jul 09 2025
Samsung has just launched two new flip phones, the Z Flip 7 and the Z Flip 7 FE. The Z Flip 7 FE is a cheaper version of the Z Flip 7. It has a simpler cover screen design. It costs $899, which is less than the Z Flip 7's $1, 099 price tag. But it's still more expensive than Motorola's Razr, which starts at $699. Both phones are now available for preorder in the US. They will hit the shelves on July 25th. The Z Flip 7 comes in four colors: black, blue, red, and green. The Z Flip 7 FE is more limited, offering only black and white options. The Z Flip 7 FE is quite similar to last year's Z Flip 6. It has the same 3. 4-inch cover screen and a 6. 7-inch internal display. The cameras are also the same: a 10MP front camera, a 12MP ultrawide, and a 50MP wide-angle lens. The battery is 4, 000mAh, and you can choose between 256GB or 512GB of storage. However, it has less RAM (8GB instead of 12GB) and a slower processor, the Exynos 2400, compared to the Snapdragon 8 Gen 3 in the Z Flip 6. The Z Flip 7, on the other hand, has some upgrades. It has a bigger 4. 1-inch AMOLED cover display that wraps around the camera. The internal screen is also larger at 6. 9 inches. Both screens now support a 120Hz refresh rate and 2, 600 nits of peak brightness, which is a big improvement over the previous generation's 60Hz and 1, 600 nits. Samsung is trying to offer more options with these new flip phones. But is the Z Flip 7 FE really a good deal? It's cheaper than the Z Flip 7, but it lacks some features. The Z Flip 7 has a better screen and more power. So, which one should you choose? It depends on what you're looking for.
