Sanford's Mustangs Stage a Comeback Victory

Sanford High School's basketball team faced a tough challenge against Centauri. After a slow start, they managed to turn things around and win in overtime. The game was intense, with both teams trading leads throughout. The Mustangs struggled in the first quarter, scoring zero points while Centauri took an early 10-0 lead. Jayse Maestas and Carson Shawcroft from Centauri were on fire, scoring three-pointers and free throws. Sanford finally got on the board in the second quarter, but Centauri maintained their lead. The third quarter saw Sanford making a comeback, cutting the deficit to just three points. Trason Gartrell and the Canty brothers, Colter and Travis, were key players for Sanford. Gartrell scored a crucial three-pointer to tie the game at 24-24.The fourth quarter was a nail-biter, with both teams exchanging baskets. With just seconds left, Keaden McGinnis from Centauri hit a three-pointer to send the game into overtime. In the extra period, Gartrell and Colter Canty led Sanford to a 49-43 victory. Gartrell was the top scorer for Sanford with 21 points, while McGinnis led Centauri with 12 points. The Mustangs' next game was scheduled against South Park, but due to a scheduling conflict, it was postponed. They will now play at Trinidad and Sargent in the upcoming days. Centauri, on the other hand, will face Ignacio and Monte Vista in their next matches.
