Scarlett Johansson and Lauren Oliver Team Up for 'The Girl In The Lake'
Los Angeles, USAWed Oct 23 2024
Amazon MGM Studios and Scott Stuber have just picked up a new thriller novel called 'The Girl In The Lake'. The book is penned by Lauren Oliver, who is best known for her young adult novels like 'Panic' and 'Delirium'. However, this time she's venturing into adult mystery thrillers. Scarlett Johansson has her eyes set on the lead role, if the script meets her expectations.
Producers Scott Stuber and Nick Nesbitt, along with Johansson and her partner Jonathan Lia, are all on board. Marc Resteghini, known for his work on 'Young Sherlock', is also involved. Oliver will serve as an executive producer, adding her expertise to the project.
The plot details are being kept secret, but it's been compared to movies like 'What Lies Beneath' and 'The Sixth Sense'. It's an exciting transition for Oliver from her well-known YA genre to adult thrillers.
This project also marks a significant milestone for Stuber, who recently committed to reviving the United Artists label under Amazon MGM. Plus, it's a reunion for him and Johansson after their successful collaborations in 'Marriage Story' and 'In Good Company'.
Oliver is represented by Verve, Stephen Barbara at Inkwell Management, Howie Sanders at Anonymous Content, and Jamie Feldman. Johansson's representation includes CAA and Yorn Levine Barnes.
Amazon MGM has been a fertile ground for collaborations like these, with Resteghini overseeing Oliver's series 'Panic' when he was at the studio. Stuber's current projects include Guillermo del Toro’s 'Frankenstein' for Netflix and a drama about Bruce Springsteen with 20th Century Studios.
