Screening on the go: mobile- tech taking the lead against cervical cancer

Sun Feb 02 2025
Did you know, cervical cancer is a major health concern among women, since it can be largely prevented and cured when caught early? This is all fine except the availability of a comprehensive screening program and quality treatment. This remains true particularly in Kenya, where cervical cancer stands as the top cancer killer among women. Screening for Human Papillomavirus is not easy because it is a very prolonged process as well as costly. Despite the efforts of World Health Organization on preventive measures, achieving its goals seems impossible due to lack of screening to scale up the issues. Thank goodness for smartphones, the face of technology that might have altered the landscape of these screening procedures. The system promotes patients following the screening process more easily. This app must be easily accessible to ease the patients and doctors for planning and scheduling subsequent appointments. The cost is worth discussing here. If you keep wondering how much easier it would have been to decide on something versus isn't it cheaper to accept and test new things like this app at hand. Testing new methods can seem like a risk but it's infinitely better than that.
