Senator Faces Lawsuit Over Relationship With Bodyguard
Raleigh, North Carolina, USA,Sat Mar 14 2026
Kyrsten Sinema, who served Arizona in the U. S. House and Senate, is now entangled in a legal fight that began when she started dating one of her own security guards.
The lawsuit was filed by the guard’s former wife, who says the romance broke their marriage apart. She wants money for what she claims were lost love and affection because Sinema pursued the man even while he was married.
Sinema admitted the relationship became romantic in May 2024 and grew intimate over several months. They moved together across California, New York, Colorado, Arizona and Washington, D. C. , before separating in November 2024. The court documents show a timeline of their meetings and messages that proved the affair’s seriousness.
North Carolina allows people to sue for “alienation of affection, ” a rare state law. Sinema’s lawyer argues she has no meaningful link to North Carolina. He says her single text message cannot be held responsible for ending a marriage, and no jury would find that it caused any hurt.
The case started in a state court last year and was moved to federal court in January. After leaving the Senate, Sinema is now working as a lobbyist in Washington. She has not sought re‑election and is dealing with the fallout from her personal choices.
