Yellowstone creator Taylor Sheridan and famous actor Dennis Quaid recently spoke at the Texas Senate Finance Committee. They pushed for more money for the state's film industry. The current plan is to use $200 million by next year. Sheridan said this money lets him film shows like Yellowstone and Landman in Texas. But some of his projects went to other states because they offered better deals. He wants more local workers and training for them. He even hired students from Tarrant County College for his crew.
Sheridan also said knowing how much money Texas will give in the future helps plan for future seasons. Quaid, who is from Houston, thinks Texas should aim for $500 million to $1 billion in incentives. Georgia, for example, offered $1. 3 billion last year. The mayor of Fort Worth, Mattie Parker, also talked about the benefits. Even lawmakers who once opposed the program now seem to support it because of the good return on investment.
