Shopping Trip Turns into Chaos at Texas Mall
Killeen, USASun Dec 22 2024
This: you're out shopping at Killeen Mall in Texas, just like any other day. Suddenly, a pickup truck comes barreling through the glass doors of a JCPenney store. This isn't a movie, it's real life. A high-speed police chase ended right there, leaving five people injured and the driver dead. The chase started about 19 miles away, in Belton, after someone reported a possibly intoxicated driver. The driver fled, leading police on a wild ride that ended when the truck crashed into the mall. Four people were hurt when the truck hit them inside the store. A fifth person went to the hospital on their own. The driver was shot and killed by police after they entered the mall on foot. Witnesses saw people lying on the floor, glass everywhere. Some even heard gunshots and saw people running. It's a scene no one wants to see, especially in a place meant for family shopping. The driver's identity is still a mystery. Police are working to find out who he was and why he was on the run.
