Last week was packed with exciting games and championship moments in Silver Valley. Let's dive in! Volleyball was the star of the show on Thursday night. Genesis Prep's Jaguars clinched the 2A District 1 championship by defeating the Wallace Miners in a thrilling five-set match. The Jaguars, led by senior Madi Cooper, will now head to the state 2A tournament. This victory was extra sweet for the team, as they had trailed two sets to one and had to fight back to claim the title. Wallace, though disappointed, can be proud of their season and the fight they put up. Switching to football, the Wallace Miners pulled off an epic comeback on Friday. They scored 22 points in the fourth quarter to beat Lakeside and secure the North Star League title. Julian Davis, a senior, sealed the deal with a 48-yard interception return for a touchdown. This game was a rollercoaster, with Lakeside leading for most of the second half. But Wallace's determination and skill proved to be the difference-maker. Both teams are now waiting to see who they'll face in the playoffs.
In cross-country, the Kellogg boys dominated at the 3A District I/II championship. They finished with five runners in the top seven spots! Brayden Lamanna from Priest River took the individual title, but Kellogg's strong team performance won them the championship. This is a great achievement for the Wildcats. Finally, in another football game, Priest River defeated Kellogg 64-26. Priest River, who played a JV schedule last year, has come a long way. They've secured a spot in the state 3A playoffs and will face Aberdeen this week. Kellogg ends their season with a 3-6 record. Sports can be unpredictable, and that's what makes them so exciting. From comebacks to dominating performances, last week had it all.
