Singer Barry Manilow Exits Early, Halts Weekend Performances
Barry Manilow left the stage after just two songs on a Friday night. He told the audience to chat among themselves and walked off. The curtain fell and the show ended early. Because of that, his Saturday concert was called off.
The night before, on a Thursday, he came back after a break lasting six weeks. He played at the International Theater inside the Westgate Las Vegas Resort & Casino. He announced he was back and seemed full of energy. He joked about feeling like a teenage idol when fans threw underwear on stage. He even picked up a pair of briefs and asked if they needed washing, then held up a pink lace thong and said he’d keep it.
After that successful return, his representatives said he came down with bronchitis. That illness forced him to cancel the Friday and Saturday shows. The news came from his team speaking to Paste Magazine.
Manilow’s health has been a topic for a while. Last year he revealed he had lung cancer and needed surgery, which made him winded even walking down a hallway. In June he returned to the stage after a break lasting six months to promote his new album "What a Time," his first record with fresh material in almost fifteen years. Later in August he pulled more shows because of vocal and technical troubles, saying the summer tour had pushed him too hard.
