The X Games, a prime event in action sports, is gearing up for a big change. The event, which started in the 1990s, has been held in Aspen since 2002. Now, with a new owner, MSP Sports Capital, the X Games are ready to evolve. Jeremy Bloom, a Colorado native and a successful athlete in both freestyle skiing and football, has been appointed as the new CEO. His mission? To turn the X Games into a full-fledged sports league. Bloom wants to expand from two annual events to eight, with competitions worldwide. He aims to make the X Games the biggest platform for action sports, similar to the NFL and NBA. Bloom believes this will allow athletes to focus on competing without financial struggles. He plans to start this transformation in 2026, with four teams representing both winter and summer sports. However, individual accomplishments will still be celebrated. The goal is to make the X Games even more exciting and appealing to young audiences. Bloom also wants to give back to the communities by building skateparks and superpipes and partnering with schools.
