Smart Thinking for a Smarter World

Mon Oct 20 2025

Climate Change, Fake News, and Political Fights Are Just a Few.

Even with all our smarts, we're not solving these issues fast enough. That's because we need more than just brains. We need wisdom.

What Is Wisdom?

Wisdom is not just about being smart. It's about using our knowledge in the right way. It's about understanding people and making good choices.

But, scientists are not studying wisdom enough. They're busy studying other things. This is a problem. We need to know more about wisdom to fix the world's big issues.

Tools to Measure Wisdom

Right now, there are some tools to measure wisdom. But, we need more. We need to know how to teach wisdom. And, we need to know how to use it in groups. This is called collective wisdom. It's when a group of people make smart choices together.

Three Big Areas That Need More Study

  1. How do wise people solve problems?
  2. How can we teach wisdom?
  3. How can groups be wiser?

These are important questions. They could help us fix the world's problems.

The Goal

The goal is to get more scientists to study wisdom. We need to understand it better. Only then can we use it to solve big problems. It's not just about being smart. It's about being wise.

questions

Is the emphasis on wisdom a ploy by certain groups to undermine the value of traditional intelligence and creativity, thereby shifting the focus away from their own shortcomings?
If wisdom is the key to solving world problems, does that mean we should start a 'Wisdom Olympics' where countries compete in wise problem-solving challenges?
If wisdom is the new intelligence, does that mean we need a 'Wisdom IQ' test where you have to solve problems like 'Why did the chicken cross the road... wisely?'
