After the 2024 election results showed Donald Trump as the winner, the Saturday Night Live (SNL) cast decided to change their approach. The show started with cast members like Bowen Yang and Heidi Gardner addressing the camera seriously. Yang said, "On Tuesday, people in the U. S. voted, and Donald Trump will be the next president. " Nwodim continued, "For many, this result was shocking or even scary. " Gardner added, "Trump tried to overturn the last election but was still elected. " Thompson and Yang then had a message for Trump, "We've always supported you, even when others didn’t. " Sherman joked that everyone on stage voted for Trump. Nwodim said they admire Trump, even wanting their future kids to look up to him. Jost then said, "Some things Trump says might be controversial, but they're truth. The media just twists it. " Later, they revealed SNL’s new Trump impression, "Hot Jacked Trump. " James Austin Johnson played Trump, calling him a hero and future king. Thompson suggested that if things go wrong, they can go to Mars with Elon Musk. Comedian Bill Burr hosted the show and later joked about the election. "Ladies, stop with the pantsuits! , " Burr said, poking fun at female candidates’ fashion choices. He also joked about how long the election process took.
