Christmas is getting a musical boost this year. Snoop Dogg will take the stage for the halftime show at the Detroit Lions vs. Minnesota Vikings game on Christmas Day. This performance is part of Netflix’s NFL Christmas Gameday streaming event.
The show, named “Snoop’s Holiday Halftime Party, ” promises a mix of his biggest hits, surprise guests, and festive energy. Snoop Dogg shared his excitement, saying, “NFL, Netflix, and your uncle Snoop on Christmas Day? We’re bringing music, love, and good vibes for everyone to enjoy. ” He added, “That’s the kind of holiday magic Santa can’t fit in a bag. ”
Netflix dropped a teaser video for the halftime show. In it, funk legend George Clinton narrates, hinting at a possible guest appearance. At one point, Clinton says, “bow wow wow, yippie yo yippie yay, ” a line from his 1982 hit “Atomic Dog” that Snoop has sampled in his own music.
Snoop Dogg has been everywhere lately. He’s been judging on “The Voice” and rapping during the “Monday Night Football” intro. His influence keeps growing. Just last week, he was named Team USA’s first-ever honorary coach for the Milano Cortina Games in February. He’ll also be a special correspondent for NBC’s Winter Olympics coverage, a role he had during the 2024 Paris Games.
In April, Time magazine named Snoop one of the 100 most influential people of 2025. His holiday-themed projects include the 1996 song “Santa Claus Goes Straight to the Ghetto, ” the 2008 album “Christmas in the Dogghouse, ” and the 2020 single “Doggy Dogg Christmas. ” He even performed a mashup of “Winter Wonderland” and “Here Comes Santa Claus” with Anna Kendrick in the 2015 movie “Pitch Perfect 2. ”
From gangsta rapper to mainstream icon, Snoop Dogg has truly become a cultural force. His Christmas performance is just another example of how he keeps reinventing himself.
