Snowy Surprises and Sunny Smiles: Colorado's Weather Rollercoaster
Colorado, USASat Mar 08 2025
Brace yourselves, folks! Colorado is in for a wild weather ride this week. It all starts with a big snowstorm today. The High Country will see the first flakes falling this morning, with the snow spreading to the I-25 corridor and Eastern Plains by evening. This isn't your average snow day, though. The National Weather Service has issued a Winter Storm Warning and Winter Weather Advisory for the High Country, South of Walsenburg, and the Eastern Plains. These advisories will be in effect from 5 PM tonight until 11 AM Saturday. This means heavy snow and strong winds are on the way.
So, what does this mean for temperatures? Well, today will be cooler than usual. The Eastern Plains and I-25 corridor can expect highs in the 40s to 50s, while the High Country will see highs ranging from the 20s to 40s. Tonight, temperatures will drop even further, with lows in the teens to 20s across Southern Colorado. A few lucky (or unlucky, depending on how you look at it) towns in the High Country might even see single-digit lows.
But don't worry, the snow won't last forever. By late morning on Saturday, the snow will taper off, and the sun will make a welcome return. Temperatures will range from the 30s to low 50s across Southern Colorado. Sunday is looking like the best day of the weekend, with sunny skies and highs increasing into the 50s to 60s along the I-25 corridor and Eastern Plains. The High Country will see highs ranging from the upper 30s to low 60s.
The warm temperatures will stick around to start the work week. Highs will increase into the upper 60s to mid 70s along the I-25 corridor and Eastern Plains. For the High Country, highs will range from the 40s to 60s. But don't get too comfortable, because temperatures will fall into the 60s across Southern Colorado on Tuesday. We will remain dry, though, so that's a plus. Wednesday will see temperatures in the 50s and 60s, and we'll remain dry. Thursday brings a chance of precipitation, with highs remaining in the 50s to 60s. Friday will be cooler, with highs in the 50s.
So, how does this all fit into the bigger picture? Well, Colorado is known for its unpredictable weather, and this week is a perfect example. One day you're shoveling snow, the next you're soaking up the sun. It's all part of the fun, though, right? So, grab your snow boots and your sunscreen, because you'll need both this week.
