Solving the Puzzle of the Cybertruck Blast
Las Vegas, USAFri Jan 03 2025
The mysterious explosion of a Tesla Cybertruck outside the Trump International Hotel in Las Vegas has puzzled investigators. This unusual event, which happened on New Year's Day, involved Matthew Livelsberger, a 37-year-old decorated military veteran from Colorado. Livelsberger, a Green Beret on leave from his base in Germany, died in the blast that also injured seven others.
Livelsberger's background as a special forces soldier proficient in explosives makes his actions all the more perplexing. Colleagues describe him as patriotic and a strong supporter of former President Trump. Despite his military achievements, he didn't belong to any political party. His identity was confirmed through charred ID cards and partial tattoos due to the severity of his burns.
While the vehicle bore similarities to another deadly attack in New Orleans, which occurred earlier the same day, it's unclear if there's a connection. Both incidents involved former military personnel who rented their vehicles from the same company. Livelsberger served in Afghanistan in 2009 and was part of missions to dismantle Taliban car-bomb networks. Although his partner emphasized him as a compassionate soldier, Livelsberger's motive remains unclear.
