Spark of Change: How One Woman's Vision is Keeping Electric Charging Stations Running Smoothly
Los Angeles, USATue Sep 17 2024
Kameale Terry's journey began with a harsh reality check. As she took care of her ailing mother in their hometown of South Central Los Angeles, she discovered a critical issue plaguing the expanding network of electric vehicle charging stations across the US – a workforce to maintain them. With her first-hand experience of air pollution and its devastating effects on the community, Terry realized the pressing need to address this problem.
Terry's understanding of the issue deepened as she worked for EV Connect, a company that developed software for electric vehicle charging stations. When drivers called in to report faults, Terry would troubleshoot and dispatch technicians to fix the issue. This is when she became aware of the gravity of the problem – charging stations were often down, leaving frustrated drivers stranded.
This experience not only convinced Terry to co-found ChargerHelp! in 2020 but also made her a pioneer in the field of EV charger maintenance. Today, ChargerHelp! is a leading provider of charger maintenance services, operating in 17 states across the US.
Terry's company works remotely to assist with mechanical or electronics issues, sending technicians to sites in person for more complex problems. As a result, ChargerHelp! has become a vital part of the charging infrastructure, ensuring that EV owners can keep on the move without worrying about their battery going flat.
