Ever wondered how a city boosts its economic growth? Sparta, Wisconsin, has a secret weapon: its business parks. Let's chat about South Pointe Business Park, a shining example.
Around ten years ago, Spruce City snatched up nearly 200 acres on its south side. Why? To create a hub, South Pointe, where businesses could thrive. Todd Fahning, the director of community development, shared that Sparta's east side business park was a hit, so they saw an opportunity to expand.
But what’s a business park? Think of it as a designated area where businesses set up shop together. Fahning explained that these parks help smaller businesses gain visibility and attract new customers. "Imagine having a spot right off the interstate, " he said. "People driving by get a glimpse of Sparta and might just stop by a local business they've never seen before. "
MAX Building Solutions, one of the park's tenants, confirmed this perk. J. Wells, their sales and marketing assistant, noted that being visible from the main highway and having ample space for their building has helped their business grow.
The park has already sold eight lots, with plans for a future strip mall and a Circle K. That leaves 91. 9 acres available for more businesses. If you're interested, Sparta City Hall is the place to call.
Fun fact: This land was once farmland, and the city invested around $10 million to buy it. Talk about turning soil into economic opportunities!
