However, scientific proof supporting this practice is scarce. A recent study stepped in to fill this gap. It explored how different speeds and intensities of eccentric calf training impact the fluid content of the mid-part of the Achilles tendon.
The study used a randomized crossover design, comparing acute changes in tendon thickness and stiffness based on the speed and intensity of exercises. Researchers believed that altering these factors could influence the fluid content inside the tendon. This fluid flow is crucial as it aids tendon remodeling, reduces pressure, and minimizes pain.
