Get ready for a rollercoaster of emotions with Splitsville, a new comedy directed by Michael Angelo Covino and starring Dakota Johnson, Adria Arjona, and Kyle Marvin. After the success of The Climb, Covino is back with a story that delves into the complexities of relationships and the unexpected consequences of open marriages. Carey (Marvin) finds himself in a pickle when his wife Ashley (Arjona) asks for a divorce. Seeking solace in his friends Julie (Johnson) and Paul (Covino), he's shocked to discover that their secret to happiness is an open marriage. But when Carey crosses the line, all hell breaks loose, leading to a chaotic and hilarious turn of events. Splitsville is a reunion of Neon and Topic Studios, following their work together on Infinity Pool. Covino and Marvin, under their multiyear first-look deal with Topic Studios, will produce the film with Emily Korteweg for Watch This Ready.
Johnson, Ro Donnelly, and Samantha Racanelli will produce for TeaTime Pictures, with Arjona and Paul Barbeau serving as executive producers. The film is set to shoot this fall for release next year, with Neon handling domestic distribution and Neon International launching worldwide sales at the Toronto Film Festival. Covino's new film is a natural progression from The Climb, which explored the challenges of friendship in the face of betrayal. With Splitsville, he takes on the complexities of marriage and the unexpected twists and turns that come with it. Johnson, fresh off her role in Daddio, will next be seen in Materialists alongside Pedro Pascal and Chris Evans. Arjona, who recently starred in Hit Man, is set to appear in Zoe Kravitz’s Blink Twice. Marvin can be seen in the Apple TV+ limited
