USAThu Feb 06 2025
Ever wondered what it's like to dive deep into sports puzzles? Let's jump into the latest Connections: Sports Edition, which is set to leave beta on Super Bowl Sunday, February 9. This game is a hit. It has attracted enough players to convince The Athletic to keep publishing it. You will need to get The Athletic's app for continued access to the game.
If you're looking for a way to test your sports and sports terminology knowledge, Connections: Sports Edition is the perfect challenge. You will need to know American football and the sport the rest of the world calls football.
Did you know that the word "transaction" means something different in the context of sports? You have to think of it in terms of a deal, exchange, trade, or transfer. It is helpful to remember that these are all ways to describe buying or selling in sports.
If you are a soccer fan, you might be interested in knowing that the green group in the puzzle is all about soccer positions. They are fullback, goalkeeper, midfielder and striker.
Think of the military and you may be able to guess the blue group. The blue group is about types of blitzes. Think of safety, simulated, zero and zone.
The purple group is a bit of a twist. It involves the word "foul". The items include foul ball, foul out, foul pole, and foul territory.
What is the best way to tackle this puzzle? For starters, resist the urge to go for the easy group. Think of all the different sports categories each word could fit into. The puzzle loves to use last names and college names that have multiple meanings. Words like HURTS might seem familiar, but they could also be last names of athletes.
