Sports Spotlight: A Day of Victories and Challenges in Eau Claire

Eau Claire was buzzing with sports action on Saturday, January 18th. The UW-Eau Claire men's basketball team scored a notable win against UW-Whitewater, while the women's team faced a tough loss. The men's team had an impressive performance, scoring their highest points in a conference game since 1995.
Elsewhere in the Wisconsin Intercollegiate Athletic Conference (WIAC), UW-Stout's men's and women's basketball teams took on UW-Stevens Point.
In hockey, the 12th-ranked UW-Eau Claire women's team celebrated a blowout victory over UW-Stevens Point, but the men's team lost to Hamline.
Across the pond, Team Herbert from Eau Claire represented the U. S. at the World University Games in Torino, Italy. They secured two wins against Italy and Canada, continuing their strong performance.
Back home, Chippewa Falls hosted the Chi Hi Wrestling Invitational, and Eau Claire Gymnastics held its own invitational. The full results of the wrestling event are available online.
The Eau Claire Axemen, part of The Arena League, held tryouts for their upcoming season.
