In the streets of St. Paul, a dangerous chase unfolded as a man with a violent past took aim at an officer. The suspect, 27-year-old Samuel Flowers, had been released from prison and was out on bail for a weapons case. He was spotted by an officer on DUI patrol and attempted to flee after a traffic stop. Flowers was armed with a stolen AR-15 rifle and armor-piercing ammunition.
The pursuit began before 11 PM on Monday. The first officer stopped chasing the vehicle, but another officer later found it abandoned. Flowers started shooting from the back window of the car. After crashing, he ran away on foot. Officers caught him after a physical struggle. Flowers was evaluated at a hospital before being booked into the Ramsey County Jail.
The vehicle held an AR-15 suspected to be stolen, armor-piercing bullets, and drugs like fentanyl and cocaine. Flowers was arrested for attempted murder, assault, fleeing, and firearm possession.
