St. Paul Rally Draws Big Names to Protest “No Kings” Movement
St. Paul, MN, USASun Mar 29 2026
A major protest is set for Saturday at the Minnesota State Capitol, where around 100, 000 people are expected to gather. The event is part of a nationwide campaign called “No Kings, ” which criticizes the Trump administration’s policies and aims to prevent what supporters see as executive overreach. The rally follows two fatal shootings by federal immigration officers in Minneapolis, adding urgency to the demonstration.
The program includes speeches and performances from well‑known artists and activists. Bruce Springsteen will sing a new song called “Streets of Minneapolis, ” written after the recent shootings. Other performers are Jane Fonda, Maggie Rogers, and Joan Baez. The organizers have also invited local leaders, union members, lawmakers, and activists to speak.
The schedule begins with three marches at noon that will merge at the Capitol by 2 p. m. In addition to music, participants plan a human chain and line dancing to show solidarity. Independent Senator Bernie Sanders is slated to address the crowd, emphasizing opposition to oligarchy and war.
The White House has dismissed the protests as mere media spectacles. A spokesperson said reporters who cover these events are the only ones “who care. ” Critics, however, argue that protesting against perceived authoritarianism is a fundamental American value.
The “No Kings” movement has grown quickly, with millions attending the first wave of rallies in June 2025. The next phase will see thousands more events across all states, underscoring the movement’s expanding reach.
